Source failover enables you to send a stream simultaneously to one of our ingests. If one input goes down, the failover will switch to the other. Depending on your setup, you can connect a camera to two physical encoders and then send both streams to Grabyo. This protects against encoder failure. Alternatively, you could send two outputs from the same encoder via different network routes to enhance transmission resilience.

Confirming Source Failover

When setting up or editing Pro Ingest, users can now enable source failover at the end of the form.

Once "ENABLE SOURCE FAILOVER" is turned on, the form will update to allow for input of two source details instead of one, referred to as Source A and Source B.

All the usual fields for the selected protocol will be duplicated for Source A and Source B plus one additional toggle which can optionally be used to designate one of the sources as primary:

Source failover can be enabled or disabled for an ingest when creating a new one or editing an existing one.

Info & Metrics

The status of a Pro Ingest will display as "DISCONNECTED" when both sources are disconnected and as "CONNECTED" when both are connected. A new status called "PARTIALLY CONNECTED" will be shown when only one of the sources is connected.

This status has a tooltip showing which of the two sources is connected:

When source failover is enabled the "MORE INFO" page shows the details of both sources:

📕 Note: In the metrics view, you can now see the stats of both Source A and Source B at all times.
