Markers allow for easy and quick marking and locating of specific moments or segments of your content directly in your stream's DVR timeline. You can also send multiple moment/segment markers to an Editor project.

Overview

Moments

Moments refer to a singular moment in time within the UDVR. These markers are highly adaptable and can be utilized for a wide range of purposes.

Segments

Segments enable users to designate a portion of the UDVR, complete with an in point and an out point. These markers are primarily intended for saving specific clips that will be trimmed at a later time. There are several reasons for using this marker type, such as when a user needs to switch to a new clip or when collaborating with another user who needs to review the segment.

Creating a Marker

  1. Select the point in the DVR timeline where you want to add a marker

  2. Click on the ADD MARKER button (shortcut [m]) to create a marker

  3. Click on the ADD SEGMENT MARKER button (shortcut [Shift+m]) to create a segment marker

  4. Select the EDIT button on your marker on the side panel to add a name, description and colour to your marker

  5. click SAVE to finish

  6. Click on the JUMP TO PREVIOUS and JUMP TO NEXT buttons to quickly navigate through your markers

7. Click on the SHARE button to access your sharing options.

📕 Note: Markers are visible and editable by any user with access to a stream. This makes team collaboration even easier.

💡Tip: You can use your colour coding to organise your markers.

Searching for a Marker

You can search for markers using the search bar at the top of the markers sidebar.

To do a basic search, type in the box and press enter. This runs a text search against the name and description fields.

Advanced Search

To access further search options, clicking on the advanced button will show the following criteria:

  • Date: The date range you wish to search in

  • Colour: The colour or colours you wish the search to be filtered by

  • Name: The name of the marker

  • Description: The description of the marker

📕 Note: The default search time is the time currently loaded into the live clipping tool. For example, if you are watching live the search time will be Live -4 hours. To search across a longer range, please use the advanced search options.

Sharing a segment

  1. Select the SEGMENT of your choice

  2. Navigate to the sharing icon from the MARKERS section or EDIT > SAVE AND SHARE

  3. Fill out the EXPORT CLIP section and SAVE

  4. Navigate to the campaign, locate the clip and download the ORIGINAL CSV FILE

📕 Note: All markers will be available for the duration of the UDVR retention time. They will then be deleted automatically.

Sending a Marker to Editor

  1. Navigate to the liver clipping tool

  2. Select the moments/segment markers of your choice

  3. Hit SEND TO EDITOR

  4. Give the new project a name and hit CREATE PROJECT

  5. Navigate to Editor where your project will be ready to use

📕 Note: When a group of markers is added to an Editor project, the items will be included in the timeline and the asset library in chronological order. A buffer will be added to each marker, allowing you to make further edits to the clip in the timeline.

Segment Markers

When you send a 10-second segment marker to the Editor, it will appear in the timeline as a 10-second segment and will be added automatically. You will also be able to extend the beginning and end of the marker in the timeline by 10 seconds on each side, provided that there is enough content available to be added as a buffer.

If you delete the asset from the timeline and then re-add the marker from the asset library, the asset will be added to the timeline with the original 10-second duration, but you'd still be able to further edit it as described above.

✅ Tip: To help you understand this, we have added notifications in the asset library and the timeline to inform you that buffers have been applied to the clips.

Moment Markers

Markers work in the same way as above and will have a buffer added to either side of the clip. In addition, we also add 5 seconds to either side of the clip, which makes the base asset 10 seconds long. For instance, if you send a moment marker, we will add 5 seconds on either side of the marker to make the base asset 10 seconds long and then include a subsequent 10 seconds of buffer to allow for further editing.

Merge Markers

Merge markers to create a single marker that uses the earliest start time and the latest end time from all the markers. If there are multiple titles and descriptions, the new marker will use the titles and descriptions from the first marker.

📕 Note: The "Delete markers" feature enables users to delete multiple markers in a single step.
