We are introducing a new feature that enables you to set your Live Clipping workspace to display time relative to a specific point. Initially, you will have the option to choose between two relative time settings: relative to the encoder start time or relative to a manually specified point in time.

How it works

  1. Go to SETTINGS in the top left corner of the Clipping tool

  2. From the PREFERENCES tab navigate to TIMELINE PREFERENCES

  3. Toggle on USE RELATIVE TIME and select ENCODER or MANUAL from the options

  4. Toggle on DISPLAY THUMBNAIL to see in timeline

Time preferences explained

Relative time: Encoder start time

Relative time: Manual start time

This option adjusts the Live Clipping timeline to display times relative to when the encoder first received content. This eliminates the need to manually calculate differences between studio timecodes and Grabyo’s DVR time.

For events where the key moment (e.g., kickoff) is a better reference point, you can manually set the timeline’s starting point. Initially, the timeline will align with the beginning of the viewable window. You can then select a new reference time using a key binding (CTRL + SHIFT + T by default).

Limitations

  • Maximum time in the past 99:99:99 hours.

  • This feature cannot be used with unreliable streams as the relative time will reset on encoder down times.
